Privacy and visitor analytics

Compute Equity Atlas uses limited analytics to understand how the public website is used, improve navigation and research discovery, measure interest in published infrastructure information, and identify organizations that may be visiting the site.

Leadinfo business visitor analytics

We use Leadinfo, a business visitor analytics service. Leadinfo may process technical connection information such as an IP address and browser/session information and may compare network information with publicly available business information in order to identify an organization associated with a visit. This is intended for organization-level website analytics and business-interest measurement, not for determining the identity of an individual visitor.

Leadinfo may use cookies or similar technologies to help connect visits and improve analytics accuracy, depending on the tracker configuration and the choices available through the visitor's browser or applicable consent controls. The tracker is loaded from Leadinfo's service at cdn.leadinfo.net.

Information we may receive

Analytics information may include pages viewed, approximate visit times, referral information, browser/device characteristics, network/IP information, and an organization or company match when Leadinfo is able to make one. We may also receive aggregated engagement information about how the public site is used.

How we use analytics information

We use analytics to operate and improve Compute Equity Atlas, understand which states, projects and research topics are useful, diagnose site performance, measure outreach effectiveness, and understand organization-level interest in the platform. We do not use website analytics to change the underlying evidence or research conclusions shown by the Atlas.

Cookies and browser controls

You can use browser settings to block or delete cookies and to limit certain tracking technologies. Blocking cookies or scripts may reduce the accuracy of analytics but should not prevent access to the public research content. Where additional consent or opt-out controls are required for a visitor, we will honor the applicable controls implemented on the site.

Public research and third-party links

Compute Equity Atlas publishes source-linked research and may link to public agencies, companies, utilities, planning bodies, news sources and other third-party sites. Those third parties operate under their own privacy practices. A source link does not mean Compute Equity Atlas controls that third party's data practices.

Data minimization and retention

We aim to collect only analytics information reasonably useful for operating and improving the platform. Analytics and operational logs may be retained for a limited period consistent with security, troubleshooting, measurement and legal obligations. Research provenance records are separate from visitor analytics and may be retained longer where necessary to preserve the evidence history of published research.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform, analytics configuration, legal requirements or data practices change. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
